All sport areas have physical requirements as well as a
mental, emotional requirement. The more solitary the pursuit the more important
inner strength and focus become. Team sport requires an interactive ability to
sense where your team mates are and what their needs may be, while maintaining
your role within the group. For both groups and regardless of the type of
training undertaken to improve ones skills requires more than a love for the
sport, it requires a mental discipline just to allow the competitor to maintain
a program of physical training. The better developed your ability to focus
holistically the more fine tuned you will become as an athlete, it is always
interesting to see just how far you can take this, as improved ability and
fitness is an ongoing process not necessarily impaired by age.
The amount of pressure felt by you the athlete determines the
need for an understanding of how you respond to these pressures and how you can
generate an inner state that promotes stamina. My definition of stamina is
simply an emotional mental fortitude, it does not matter how strong the body is
if you can not maintain the necessary control over that body.
There are few who would challenge the idea that stamina and
attitude are the primary forces in determining the difference between first and
second in any competitive area many is the time we have witness a fine athlete
succumbing to pressure . I also believe that energy expended with the
right attitude returns a better result, where you are undertaking a
process to gain physical or competitive superiority. There is less struggle and
so less physical energy is expended, that is why love for your sport, for
winning or even fame is vital if you wish to be the best you can be.
General Aims
-
Rapid Recovery
-
Improved Performance
-
Increased Stamina
-
Motivation Techniques
-
Psychological Advantage
-
Improved Focus
-
Reduced Injury
Potential
-
Increased Flexibility
Physical Benefits:
Energy Therapy aids the body in returning to ready state
after training, encourages blood flow and improves the immune systems function
ensuring maximum benefits of any training.
If used beforehand or regularly, relieves muscle tension
reducing the risk of injury during training or competition, by increasing blood
flow without increased blood pressure ensures maximum strength and efficient use
of nutrients, particularly beneficial before long distance or intense sporting
events.
Can reduce swelling, joint discomfort, and generally ease any
pain, a treatment has an ongoing effect so if competing weekly or over a period
of time an injury, not only can, but usually does continue to ease or heal while still
in use, and i do mean heal, this is not about binding something up so you can
suffer after the event is over. Obviously where the injury must be rested, in
the case of a break or sprain, you would be looking for rapid and immaculate
recovery.
Mental Benefits:
Energy Therapy enhances awareness which aids confidence, and
can improve reflexes
Assists the athlete in maintaining focus and remaining
centred throughout an event, particularly beneficial for golfers, long distance sporting
events, or where an audience may be distracting. shooters, archers, Javelin,
high jumpers, all sports where rapid assessment of space in relation to self is
important for good judgment and successful outcomes.
Mental fortitude and improved attitude so setbacks will not
influence the whole performance and the mind can be used as a tool to achieve
and help the athlete pull out that little bit more that is always available when
the mind is strong. By combining Energy Therapy with Hypnotherapy you have a
powerful combination to overcome personal limitations, negative thoughts, or
even the struggle with success and the demands that brings.
Emotional Benefits:
You can only ever do the best you
can do, knowing what that is is powerful stuff, and only by knowing what your
best is currently, can you improve. Some limitations are hidden under the
surface and as such can work to undermine your determination or, equally
damaging, waste your valuable energy on being determined to overcome the
limiting belief.
Allows an athlete to perform with good heart so the desire to
achieve is strong and reduces the need to expend energy feeling doubtful,
anxious, or self critical during competition, this enables the competitor to
relax physically, which paradoxically guarantees the best possible performance
on the day.
Particularly beneficial in a team where one personality can upset
others and throw a team into disarray, rugby, basketball, netball etc, also
benefits a golfer where playing a bad hole may have a detrimental affect on the
golfers performance for the next one, in any competition where the effort is
ongoing or in segments a bad run is usually caused by negative feelings about
the most recent performance.
Remember your sport is what you do, not
who you are. Identifying too closely with your performance makes it all to easy
to fall into the pressure trap, to lose the pleasure gained from participating
and deplete your ability to perform well at any given time in any given
circumstance. The person you are is the person who loves sport and that can stay
with you always.

S.P.A. Athlete
Training
Explore your
performance potential
I work around a high intensity... low duration/volume
style of
training.... this is achieved
using compound exercises
at a high intensity which
dramatically raises the heart rate,
benefits of this are:
a more focused training session,
lower risk of muscle catabolism, high calorie expenditure, a
quick fast paced training session. And for the people with weight loss
goals “epoc” aka “elevated post exercise oxygen consumption
which means once the hard work is over and your
resting... your still burning energy/calories.
For the athletes you will be
working explosive power/endurance. Aerobic/anaerobic conditioning,
agility, flexibility.
You may be looking to improve
performance in your sport or you may be returning to fitness after
injury or illness Mitch has the technical know how to help you achieve
your goals. He has travelled his own journey from injury, maintaining
fitness and skills while unable to perform in his chosen sport gaining
insight into the associated mental issues of athlete depression and
lowered self esteem. With a compassionate nature you will also find a
deep understanding of the appropriate exercise program to meet any
physical requirement for sport and general health and well being.
You can evolve from any level to any level you are only limited
by your belief and even that can be enhanced by someone who is willing
to help you believe in yourself.
Sport specific training will involve
Plyometrics, for fast twitch
muscle fibre
development
High intensity cardio, for
anaerobic fitness/ lactic acid threshold training.
Dynamic flexibility
training, for quick and easy muscle movement in the
heat of the action
Weight loss programs will involve
Quick levels of high intensity
training followed by quick rest periods,
by the end of the training session you will have successfully
burned more calories than doing a steady jog for half an hour.
And if your game/tough enough
you can easily put your body in a state of epoc which will continue the
calorie burning after your training has finished.
Exercises will utalise body
weight as the main resistance in the form of compound exercises, this
means more than one muscle
group will be working increasing calorie expenditure!
Other effects of weight loss
programmes will be increased fitness, muscle strength/endurance.
And a great fit feeling/looking
body!
Explosive Speed and Power
Foot Work and Nervous System Refinement
Aerobic and
Anaerobic Conditioning
